Herpes Zoster Mandibularis: Dilemma of Diagnosis - A Case Report.

Background: Herpes zoster infection involving the mandibular branch of trigeminal nerve is rare. It can present with severe pre-eruptive pain along distribution involved. As presented by patient in this study, lesion may be mistaken for other painful conditions, leading to misdiagnosis and maltreatment. Post-herpetic neuralgia most common important complication herpes infection. often refractory treatment profoundly affect patient's quality life.
 
 Objective: To report an unusual rare case mandibularis diagnostic dilemma experienced management.
 Case Report: A 60-year-old female intractable from left side tongue floor mouth, rashes lower lip cheek, ulcerations oral cavity. After a period puzzle due confusing presentations, diagnosis complicated postherpetic was finally made treated accordingly. The peculiarity, management, outcome are discussed.
 Conclusion: as seen clinical features that lead inappropriate treatment. This study aims raise awareness presentation entity among clinicians medical dental practices. also advisable seek orofacial evaluation patients similar specialists Oral Medicine Maxillofacial Surgery.

A case of Herpes zoster of the mandibular nerve in an 80 year old man is reported. Herpes zoster infection affecting only the mandibular branch of the trigeminal nerve is rare.
